I Was a Stranger to Myself

I was successful on the outside and empty on the inside. Highly sensitive, driven by fear of loss and a fragile sense of self-worth, I sought refuge in alcohol from an early age.

It numbed my insecurity. It made me seem stronger. And it took me further and further from myself. Relationships failed. I changed places and countries. I kept starting over.

But only when I stopped running from myself did the real change begin. I now live alcohol-free. But more importantly: I live more consciously and am happy every day.

This story speaks to people who function outwardly – but don't truly know themselves.

My Pilgrimage

To the Roots of Humanity

A journey to the stones that have stood in the same place for twenty thousand years –
to the caves where humanity first conceived of gods –
to the mountains where the heroes still sleep.

This is not a tour. It is a homecoming.

I set out on the longest day of the year,
and return carrying the light of twelve thousand years.
What I seek has long since found me.

I travel in my Land Cruiser – over twenty years old, with a rooftop tent. That is a form of freedom few medieval pilgrims ever had: I can sleep wherever a place holds me. If the Externsteine aren't ready to let me go, I stay. If I want to watch the sunrise from the Magdalensberg, I sleep there. The hotel becomes an option, not a requirement.

This route spans 75 days – from Frankfurt through the alpine roots, the Adriatic, mystical Bosnia, the Balkan-Carpathian layer of Danubian civilization, the Thracian rock sanctuaries of Bulgaria, and finally to the primordial source of all sacredness: Göbekli Tepe in Turkey. Twelve thousand years old. Here, humanity created monumental religious architecture for the very first time.

Each stop was chosen with care – every place has its reason, every pause its meaning. But with the Land Cruiser, this is not a plan – it is a framework. The journey itself I will write. With my eyes, my breath, my dreams.
